Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that the present government is making strenuous efforts for banishing the poverty and backwardness from the neglected areas of the country on top priority basis.
Addressing a public meeting at Ugoki village on Saturday night, he said that the government focused its special attention on bringing these areas at par with developed areas of the country.
"Various development projects have already been initiated for uplift of neglected areas," he said.
The NA speaker said that despite limited resources, the government was making all-out efforts for providing basic facilities, like Sui gas, tele-communications, health and education etc to the masses of urban and rural areas of the country evenly without any discrimination.
BRIDGE TO BE BUILT: Chaudary Amir Hussain revealed that a bridge would be constructed on the River Tavi costing Rs 22 million.
The work on this project, he said, would start in May in Bujwat area. The completion of this bridge would not only help in linking 85 villages of Bujwat with the district headquarter on a permanent basis but also open new vistas of development, he added.
He disclosed that the facility of Sui gas would be ensured in 13 villages of Sialkot and work on this programme would begin soon.
On this occasion, Chaudhry Amir Hussain congratulated the newly elected Nazims and councillors in recently held by-elections and stressed the need of forging unity among the ranks for strengthening the party.
He said: "It is high time that we should jointly work for strengthening the Pakistan Muslim League and for making Pakistan a stronger country in the world. Chaudhry Amir Hussain assured the people that the facility of Sui gas would be provided in Ugoki and its adjoining localities.
Chaudhry Khush Akhtar Subhani (MPA) and Nazims of union councils also addressed the meeting.
