Senior Hurriyat leaders said that people of Kashmir are committed and serious in boycotting the forthcoming Indian Lok Sabha farcical polls in occupied Kashmir and they will ignore these elections as they have done in the past.
Senior Hurriyat leader and patron of "Mahaz-e-Azadi" Mohammad Azam Inquilabi addressing a news conference here said that holding of so-called elections in occupied Kashmir is an attempt to sabotage the latest peace initiative between India and Pakistan.
He said there is no rationale or justification in conducting the farcical elections in occupied Kashmir, when it has been termed as disputed territory and both India and Pakistan have agreed to resolve all their outstanding issues including Kashmir through dialogue.
"There are miscreants here and in New Delhi who are hell bent on sabotaging the peace process towards resolution of Kashmir dispute," he said.
Inquilabi further said that there is deep hatred among the masses here against India and by trying to conduct sham elections, India is further increasing alienation among the people.
The people of occupied Kashmir are committed and are serious in boycotting the elections, he said.
They have boycotted the elections in past and will continue to boycott such sham elections till the Kashmir issue is resolved according to their wishes and aspirations.
He said that puppet authorities have got no reason or justification in preventing movement of freedom leaders from conducting anti-poll campaign. This is mere chauvinism, fascism under the garb of democracy, he added.
He called on Indian government to accept the ground realities in occupied Kashmir and allow Kashmiris their right to determine their fate.
The chairman Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Mian Manzoor Ahmad in a press statement in occupied Srinagar said, India once again wanted to mislead the world about the occupied Kashmir issue by conducting the election drama.
He said that Muslim League had to pay a heavy price for exposing' India's election designs in the past and the puppet state regime, in frustration and out of sheer vengeance had arrested may of its prominent leaders.
The continued detention of Muslim League's General Secretary, Mussarrat Alam Butt and Farooq Ahmad Tauhidi besides martyrdom of Mushtaq Ahmad Butt are glaring examples of state terrorism, he said.
Mian Manzoor Ahmad said even now hurdles are being created in the way of Muslim League's anti-polls campaign. He condemned Monday's blast at Shopian, Pulwama which he termed as an attempt to malign the freedom movement.
