Provincial Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Muhammad Basharat Raja has reiterated the resolve of the provincial government to provide all possible facilities to masses and resolve all problems on priority.
"The development package, announced by Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi during his recent visit to Rawalpindi, would open new vistas of development in the region," the minister said during his meeting with Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani here on Friday.
Tehsil Nazim Hamid Nawaz Raja was accompanying the minister in the meeting.
Basharat Raja briefed the Corps Commander about the salient features of the development package announced by the chief minister and said that various old problems of the people of Rawalpindi will be resolved.
He said that this package would also help in developing the backward areas of the Rawalpindi Cantonment area and people there would be provided facilities like water supply, roads etc.
The minister said that the development projects to be launched in the Rawalpindi Cantonment area would be completed within the stipulated time as directed by the chief minister. He expressed hope that the authorities of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board would co-operate with the government in completing these development projects and provision of best possible facilities to the civilian population of the area.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: While lauding the relief package, Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani has said that the package will give maximum relief to the people living in the cantonment area.
"This is the primary objective of the present government to provide all possible relief to the masses," Kiyani said.
He stressed the need of mutual co-operation, understanding and link of the different departments in materialising the development package announced by the provincial chief minister.
He asked the minister that the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board should be included in the execution of the development projects in the Cantonment Area and said, "being a civic body, RCB knows about the priorities of the area so that it will better guide the government about the execution of the package.
"There should be no compromise on the quality of work in the uplift projects in order to get better yields of the development work initiated," he added.
