Provincial Education Minister Mian Imran Masood has said that drastic steps have been taken for the promotion and bringing revolutionary changes in education sector.
The government was spending Rs 43 billion during current fiscal year for this purpose, he disclosed.
Speaking at annual prize distribution ceremony of Sialkot Public School on Wednesday here he added that present regime has enhanced the budget of education to Rs 21 billion from Rs 1 billion with the aim to ensure quality education as well as for the provision of maximum facilities to the students.
The Punjab Education Minister said that at present there 63,000 educational institutions are functioning in government sector and about 90 lakh male and female students getting education in these educational institutions in the Punjab.
The minister claimed that this education network is biggest net of the world, which is rendering laudable services for the promotion education in the Punjab.
Imran Masood said that special attention has been accorded on the averting the chances of dropout of children from government schools adding that the dropout of children from school has been registered to 40 lakh every year in the Punjab.
In order to edge out the tendency of dropout, the government has announced the free education up to matriculation provision free books up to fifth class, he disclosed.
He further told that for attraction of girl's students stipend of Rs 200 per month is being provided in 13 districts of the Punjab.
He called upon the teacher's community that they should fulfil their responsibilities with missionary zeal and imparts education to the students enabling them to cope with challenges of the world as well as religious education.
The minister stressed upon the teachers that they should work from core their heart for enhancing the literacy rate in the Punjab.
Provincial Industries and Investment, Minister, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, District Nazim, Sialkot, Mian Naeem Javed addressed the ceremony. Sialkot District Nazim on this occasion announced a special grant of Rs 1.20 crore as matching grant for the construction of new block of the school.
The board of trustees also announced donation of Rs 100,000 each for construction of new block of Sialkot Public School.
Earlier, chairman board of governors Khawar Anwar Khawaja presented the address of welcome and highlighted the achievements of the school.
He disclosed that 10 percent quota is reserved for the deserving students and their educational expenditures are born by the school management.
The Provincial Education Minister, Mian Imran Masood and Provincial Industries Minister, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema inaugurated the newly constructed secondary block for girls Rs 1.50 crore.
Later, both the ministers distributed the prizes among the students.
