President, Sindh Abadgar Board, Abdul Majeed Nizamani, has expressed grave concern over charging of market committee fee by market contractors under duress on wheat, rice, vegetable, milk, goat and chicks from poor peasantry by setting seizure posts near police post on every road.
He said on March 27, Provincial Minister for Food and Agriculture Arif Mustafa Jatoi had categorically announced that there was no provision in contracts for setting up seizure posts on roads, or excess charging and such posts on roads would not be allowed.
He also had directed the Director General Agriculture Extension and Research that all such posts should be immediately removed from the roads and those found guilty of violating the terms and conditions of the contract should be blacklisted and legal action should be initiated against them but no action has been taken till date.
Regretting the state of affairs he said that president of Sindh Balochistan Rice Millers and Traders Association Gada Hussain has announced at press conference that traders would not pay the taxes and market fee unless government established 100 percent writ in all walks of life.
He said the traders also announced to launch protest demonstration against the excesses of market committee contractors.
He said Sindh is suffering for uncommitted crimes, where Sida was imposed to sell water to farming community; movement of wheat is restricted under Sec 144 , water charges are being recovered under duress from declared calamity affected areas, drainage surcharge has been imposed on sugarcane cultivation, Seed Corporation has been closed and the growers are left to the mercy of seed companies, substandard and spurious pesticides and herbicides are being marketed in the province, the development activities at farm level are at the lowest ebb as the gun totting armed bandits are roaming the area with impunity.
Marketing of Kalashnikov, rocket launcher and drugs have been patronised, contaminated water has been provided to people for drinking purposes.
He appealed to scholars, human right activists to save Sindh from turning into laboratory where people are being treated as gunny pigs and all sorts of experiments are being conducted.
He said justice demands that all citizens of the country irrespective of their political affiliation, language or where they live should be treated equally.
