A delegation of the Virtual University of Pakistan led by Dr Shafaat Bokharee, Director Administration, visited the PAF College Sargodha and presented the scope and objectives of the university to its principal and senior staff members.
The significance of distance learning for higher education was discussed in detail between Dr Bokharee and Air Commodore Abdul Qadir, Principal of the College, concluding that there was an urgent need for students from far-flung areas of the country to have access to quality and affordable education.
Dr Bokharee told the officers of the College said, "We have more than 4000 students enrolled with us who are being imparted quality education by a talented and experienced faculty, including many PhDs. The first batch of VU students will graduate in 2006.
The two television channels of the University (VTV) would be on air very soon, enabling students to have free and convenient access to courses in the comfort of their homers.
He also said, the university has more than 170 Private Virtual Campuses in 63 cities of Pakistan.-PR
