Three suspected militants were gunned down by Saudi security forces during a gunbattle in the Red Sea city of Jeddah Thursday night, a security man on the scene told AFP.
Earlier, security forces surrounded the residential building in Um al-Qura street in the al-Safa neighbourhood in north-east Jeddah after security patrols chased four suspected militants in a car.
The militants went into the building, which is still under construction, and were besieged there by the security forces, who called in reinforcements and cordoned off the site.
The presumed militants opened fire from inside the building and the security forces fired back, the correspondent reported. The incident came a day after a car bomb targeting a security forces building in the capital Riyadh killed at least five people and wounded 145 others.
