Pakistan and Laos on Friday agreed to co-operate in maintaining peace and stability in South Asia and other regions for promotion and preservation of international peace and security.
The two countries also signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) dealing with co-operation on terrorism, promotion and protection of investments and co-operation between the two foreign ministries.
A joint statement released on the conclusion of Prime Minister Jamali's three-day state visit to Laos also reaffirmed their commitment to implement the purposes and principles of the UN Charter in their bilateral relations and to contribute to the peaceful settlement of conflicts and disputes around the globe.
It was decided to exchange ministerial visits to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
The two countries agreed to conclude agreement on abolishing visa requirements for the diplomatic and official passports to facilitate bilateral interaction.
It was also agreed to closely co-operate on issues of mutual concern in the UN and other international and regional fora by setting up mechanisms of mutual consultation and co-operation. This would be done by arranging bilateral meetings between the two foreign ministers.
Pakistan and Laos also agreed to forge close co-operation and take all necessary measures to contribute towards international efforts in combating organised crime, terrorism, smuggling, economic crimes, illegal weapons trade and other criminal activities.
Both sides expressed their keen desire to diversify the content of their bilateral trade, including direct trade.
A consultative process for arriving at preferential and zero tariff arrangements would be started leading to a Free Trade Arrangement.
The two countries agreed, in principle, to promote joint ventures and encourage greater collaboration between the private sectors in all fields.
A Laos-Pakistan Business Forum to promote a comprehensive economic and trade partnership has also been set up.
