Fast spreading population on earth has diminished natural resources for mankind and other living beings.
The Managing Director, Marie Stopes Society, Dr Muhsina Bilgrami, stated that the beginning of 21st century has changed the ecological conditions on earth including change in seasons, scarcity of drinking water, atmospherically pollution, floods and droughts.
She said that unawareness and carelessness on the part of people has resulted in seriously deteriorating conditions.
According to different surveys about 50 percent forests have vanished, 34 kinds of fishes have gone extinct while 65 percent water mammals and 25 percent of animals on earth and under water are in danger of extinction, she added.
She further said that 19 countries face acute shortage of water. The air and water has been polluted by use of gas, oil and uranium. Besides, increased use of fuel has caused global warming.
