Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar directed the officials concerned on Monday to strengthen intelligence system and improve the performance of CID.
Addressing a high-level meeting held to review law and order situation, he said Sindh has been a land of peace and love, and due to conducive atmosphere, foreign investment had increased resulting in better economic condition.
He said the bomb blast near Sindh Madreessatul Islam (SMI), Karachi, on Friday last, affected the peaceful atmosphere of not only Karachi, but the entire province.
The chief minister termed terrorist act in SMI Hyderi Mosque as a conspiracy by anti-social and anti-state elements to destroy peaceful environment of the city. He vowed that perpetrators of this act would not go unpunished.
He appealed to the masses to bring harmony among their ranks, maintain environment of brotherhood, foil such sabotaging acts, and keep vigilant eyes on activities of anti-social elements so that such incident do not recur.
Mahar directed the officials of law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) to perform their duty within their limits and bring terrorists under the net of law with effective and co-ordinated strategy.
He also directed the police officials of Sukkur and Hyderabad regions to take all security measures for safeguarding life and property of masses.
The Sindh CM's advisor on home and co-ordination, Aftab Shaikh, Chief Secretary Dr Muttwakkil Kazi, IGP Syed Kamal Shah, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Syed Anwar Hyder and Director General Rangers, briefed the meeting about the SMI Mosque blast.
He directed LEAs to take security steps for by-polls of May 12.
Sindh Information Secretary Mehtah Akbar Rashidi, Regional Police Officer Sukkur, DIGs of Hyderabad and Karachi, DIG Special Branch ISI, Internal Security 5 Corps and other high officials attended the meeting.
