The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is celebrating International Nursing Day on Saturday to attract attention of policy-makers towards investing in education, health care and poverty alleviation programmes.
A press release of the AKU on Thursday said the nurses world wide had drawn the attention of public and policy-makers towards investing in education, health care and sound social policy for alleviating poverty.
In line with this call by the international nursing community, AKU is celebrating International Nurses Day.
It also said the day acknowledges nurses' role in alleviating poverty and increasing awareness amongst the nursing community in particular and people in general of the vicious cycle of poverty in Pakistan, as well as in the developing world.
The event is also a tribute to hundreds and thousands of nurses whose contribution of sustainable projects towards communities.
Dr Ruth Pfau, Head, Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center, will be the chief guest and Dr Asma Fauzia Qureshi of the CPSP will be the key-note speaker.
