The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will be arranging a three-day exhibition in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) in the third week of June, 2004.
The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rehmonov will inaugurate this exhibition, which is the first exhibition of Pakistani products in the history of Tajikistan.
The LCCI Chief, Mian Anjum Nisar said that the basic objective of this exhibition is to ensure access of Pakistani products to Central Asian States. He said that Pakistani products could compete any country with regard to quality but the need of the hour was to introduce the same in the international market.
He stated that imports of Tajikistan from world over, was around US 830 million dollars but Pakistan's share in it was negligible.
Pakistan could export vegetables, mangoes, Kinnow, animal food, chicken and mutton, sugarcane, sugar confectionery, chemical, fertilisers, carpet, engineering goods, automobile parts, furniture, handicrafts, textile products, garments and leather and various other items.
He expressed the hope that Pakistan would get an advantage by arranging this exhibition in Dushanbe.
Nisar averred that economic stability could be achieved only through increasing exports and the LCCI would continue to play its due role in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that the LCCI Chief had expressed his desire of arranging such an exhibition in Tajikistan during a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rehmonov during his recent visit to Pakistan.
