Provincial Industries and Investment Minister Mohammad Ajmal Cheema has said that preparation of new Industrial Policy 2004 is in full swing and various matters pertaining to industrial development were under active consideration of the government.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, he said that all Chambers of Commerce and Industry have been invited for ascertaining the viewpoint of industrial sector.
The new industrial policy would be finalised with the consultation of business community for ensuring smooth and hurdle-free environment to the industrial sector of the Punjab he said.
The Provincial Minister said that obstacles that were hindering the industrial development and foreign investment would be vanished while the role the government departments would also be curtailed in the Punjab.
The results of the current industrial policy, he said, were very encouraging and both business community and industrial workers have expressed their complete satisfaction over the policy.
In new industrial policy more incentives and concessions would be provided to the industrialists for the development of industrial sector in the Punjab, Cheema said.
Apart from this, the Punjab Industries minister disclosed that government has decided to allocate maximum funds in forthcoming provincial budget for the industrial development.
Ajmal Cheema said that adequate efforts were being made for tracking the industrial sector on modern and scientific line aimed at enabling it cope with current global challenges more easily.
Special step had already been taken for attracting the foreigners and overseas Pakistanis to invest in different industrial projects and government will extend its full co-operation and assistance to the investors for setting up the industrial projects, Cheema said.
He called upon the exporters community that they should accord their special attention on the export of non-traditional products because there is a great demand of non-traditional products globally.
Pakistan he said can earn sufficient foreign exchange through the export of non-traditional products.
The Industries Minister said that many foreigners and overseas Pakistanis have showed their keenness in setting up industrial projects due to the conducive industrial environment of the Punjab. Expressing his confidence, he said that the new industrial policy would be helpful in bringing industrial promotion in the province.
