Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Hayat strongly rebutted the assertions that law-enforcing agencies have imposed economic blockade of South Waziristan.
Talking to journalists at Parliament House, he said that "Government wants to eliminate miscreant and terrorists from Wana and we will continue our strive against the law breakers."
To a question he said that NWFP government is not interfering in the tribal areas affairs. He also denied that NWFP government was creating any hurdles for the federal government to tackle situation in Tribal areas.
To another question he said that 80 percent public in Wana is supporting government but Ahmedzai and Yargul tribes were creating problems to control the situation.
He said that terrorist incidents in Quetta and Karachi were directly or indirectly linked with terrorists living in Wana. To a query he said that Wana operation was essential due to various acts of terrorism in different parts of the country.
To maintain law and order situation in Sindh is the responsibility of the government. He said that so far 171 suspects have been arrested in relation to recent terrorist incidents in Karachi. To another question he said that administrative changes in the Sindh police is on card.
