Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has called upon the business community not to be discouraged by the recent spat of terrorism in the city and carry on with their normal activities.
He was speaking at the launching ceremony of 'My Karachi - Oasis of Harmony' organised by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at a local hotel on Thursday.
The governor assured them that the government would do its utmost to overcome the problem of lawlessness in the city. He advised them to continue their efforts to boost the export and invest in the city.
He said the present government has busted several terrorists gangs; arrested 171 terrorists out of them 66 were convicted while 44 are facing death penalties. Law-enforcement agencies have recovered around 300kg of explosive material from them.
He informed that in the recent explosion at Imambargah Ali Raza, around 373-400 grams of explosives were used. The terrorists are making desperate attempts to achieve their nefarious designs but they will not succeed, he added
The governor said that he has held meetings with Ulema and they assured that they will issue a Fathwa against killing of Muslims and other people.
About recent statements of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, he said that his statement was misinterpreted and added, this government will complete its tenure. President of the KCCI Siraj Kasim Teli informed that the chamber is organising a three-day exhibition at the Expo Centre from July 30 to August 1.
