Grain exports from the French port of Rouen totalled 569,625 tonnes in May, comprising 483,682 tonnes of wheat and 85,943 tonnes of barley, port officials said on Tuesday.
That compared with grain exports of 883,000 tonnes in May last year, comprising 593,000 tonnes of wheat and 288,000 tonnes of barley and 2,000 tonnes of maize. Officials said four vessels were in port on Tuesday, loading 68,000 tonnes of wheat for Algeria and Tunisia and 5,000 tonnes of barley for Spain.
A further eight vessels were expected on Thursday to load an additional 95,000 tonnes of wheat and 6,600 tonnes of barley for an unspecified destination.
