The average price of Bangladesh teas fell further on lower demand at Tuesday's weekly auction, brokers said.
"Some 949,337 kg were sold at an average price of 65.81 taka per kg, down 0.41 taka from previous sale. The withdrawal percentage was 19.50," a market report by National Brokers Limited (NBL) said.
Well-made Brokens and Fannings fetched prices at previous levels while plainer types including Dust grades eased, the report said.
"Demand was lower in the absence of foreign buyers at the auction," Anjan Das Barman, an official of NBL, said.
Some 150 kg of well-made Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe realised the highest price of 170 taka per kg followed by 100 kg of Pekoe Fannings at 133 taka.
Other grades sold at between 50 and 107 taka.
The next weekly auction will be held on June 15 with an expected offerings of 1.15 million kg.
