Pakistan can earn huge foreign exchange by exporting Kinno, mangoes, apples and dates to the Indonesian market.
This was stated by the Indonesian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Anwar Santoso, while talking to Mian Anjum Nisar, president, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
According to a LCCI spokesman, the visiting Indonesian envoy said both Pakistan and Indonesia despite having friendly relations and religious harmony do not have a satisfactory bilateral trade, adding: "Pakistani products are of international standard, therefore, Pak trade delegations should visit Indonesia to explore the potential."
He also extended invitation to Pakistani businessmen for attending Indonesian trade fair being held in October next, saying there were no restrictions for Pakistani businessmen in getting visa.
Speaking on this occasion, LCCI chief Mian Anjum Nisar demanded exchange of delegations between the two countries, adding mutual consultations be helpful in flourishing bilateral trade relations besides, arranging single country exhibitions.
He said both countries should have direct air and sea links to save vegetables and fruits from being perished, adding Indonesia could import high quality 'Ahram', 'Jai Namaz', scarf and ladies clothing from Pakistan, while opportunities for investments exist in electric transformer, motor vehicles, auto-parts, surgical instrument, sugar and potatoes.
The LCCI chief said Indonesia imports goods worth $35.8 billion from world over per annum, but Pakistan has only a negligible share of $73.4 million in it, while Pakistan imports goods worth $257.4 million and this gap should be bridged.
He said Indonesia could also help Pakistan in initiating Islamic Banking system.
LCCI Executive Committee members, Abdul Basit, Irfan Qaiser, Noman Kabir, Sohail Lashari and others also attended the meeting.
