Rs 1 billion approved for canal lining

Punjab government has approved the sanction of Rs one billion required for the brick-lining of Chashma Jhelum Link Canal.
Parliamentary secretary MPA Malik Mohammed Waris said this in a statement issued on Saturday.
He said that thousands of acres of agricultural land close to the canal was marred by water-logging and salinity, especially the union council areas of Adhi kot, Rangpur and Rahdari since 1971 when the canal was made, he said.
He regretted that politicians who ruled for the last three decades failed to address this vital issue.
