Pakistan and India have agreed to adopt mechanism to prevent misunderstandings and vowed to work for strategic stability, foreign office spokesman Masood Khan told PTV on Sunday.
Progress has been made on nuclear level talks between Pakistan and India. Both sides were conscious to promote an environment of peace and security, Masood added.
Recognising that the nuclear capabilities were based on their national security imperatives, both parties have agreed to adopt measures to reduce the risks of accidental, unauthorised use of their nuclear weapons.
Each side reaffirmed its unilateral moratorium on conducting further nuclear tests unless in exercise of national sovereignty.
The hot line between Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) would be upgraded, dedicated and secured. A dedicated and secure hot line would also be established between the two foreign secretaries to prevent misunderstandings and reduce risks relevant to nuclear issues, he said.
Both countries would work towards concluding an agreement with technical parameters on de-notification of flying and testing of missiles. A draft of which was handed over to Pakistan side by the Indian side, he added.
Bilateral consultations on security and non-proliferation issues would be held within the context of negotiations on the issues in multilateral forums, he said.
Both countries have called for regular working level meetings to be held among all the nuclear powers to discuss issues of common concern.
Besides, they have agreed to report the progress of talks to the respective foreign secretaries who would meet in New Delhi on the June 27.
