Advisor to the Prime Minister and Nilofer Bakhtiar has urged the members of provincial legislature to facilitate the process of election of female councillors to the local government institution.
This she said, while chairing the meeting of MPAs of NWFP Assembly and women delegation from lower and upper Dir at a local hotel in Peshawar.
NWFP senior minister Sirajul Haq, Minister for Health Inayatullah and Hafiz Hashmet, Minister for Zakat and Usher were also present.
Nilofer told that 40 thousand seats were reserved in local bodies' institutions for the female candidates all over the country. However, election could not be held on four thousand seats for certain reasons.
Likewise, the election process for 98 seats in district Dir could not succeed.
She urged the members of provincial legislature to put up maximum efforts for creating conditions conducive for election of female candidates on the seats reserved for them in the local bodies institutions.
Director Aurat Foundation Ms Rakshanda Afzal and some members of women delegation narrated the problem compelling the women to stay away from election process in district Dir and some pockets of district Swabi.
The members of women delegation discussed with the advisor problems pertaining to the political participation of women in upper and lower Dir.
