Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Adeel Rauf has expressed disappointment over the ignoring of trade and industry sector in the NWFP Budget for 2004-05.
In a statement issued here on Monday, he said except the commerce and industry, the government has allocated funds to all other sectors, which shows the lack of interest of the government in the promotion of trade and industry in the province.
Adeel Rauf said the matter has irked the whole business community of the province.
He said before the presentation of the provincial budget, he invited NWFP Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq to Sarhad Chamber to enable him to receive the suggestions and recommendations of the real representatives of the business community. However, due to busy schedule of the minister the visit could not be materialised.
Adeel Rauf said that despite of strong demand of the trading community of the province no formal announcement has been made for exemption of five marl self-occupied houses from property tax, adding if the government is really interested in the elimination of the unemployment from the province then it should establish technical and vocational institutes.
The Sarhad Chamber chief urged the government to help private sector in the elimination of the problem of unemployment in the province.
