Three Indian occupation soldiers and five suspected freedom fighters were killed in occupied Kashmir on Monday, police said.
In the southern town of Anantnag, suspected freedom fighters killed a member of the pro-government group, Ikhwan, police said.
The victim was shot dead at point-blank range.
Two soldiers were killed and two critically wounded in an ambush in the Chitral area of southern Poonch district, a police spokesman said.
"The troops were heading for a search-out operation when they came under fire," he said.
The wounded were taken to hospital and reinforcements sent to the area.
In neighbouring Rajouri district, three suspected freedom fighters and an Indian occupation soldier were killed in another gun battle, a police spokesman said. "Six soldiers were injured during the fighting," he said.
In another incident, Indian occupation troops killed two suspected freedom fighters near the town of Tral, 40 kilometres south of occupied Srinagar.
