In the second phase of the Sindh cabinet expansion 12 more ministers were inducted on Friday. Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan administered the oath in a simple ceremony held at the Governor House.
The strength of the Sindh cabinet is now 14.
Out of the 12 ministers six are from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. They are Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Rauf Siddiqui, Adil Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal, Qamar Mansoor and Shabbir Qaimkhani. Manzoor Panhwar is from Pakistan People's Party Patriot. The remaining five ministers are from Pakistan Muslim League and the parties that have merged into PML. They are Irfanullah Marwat, Imtiaz Sheikh, Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashadi, Arif Mustafa Jatoi and Nadir Akmal Leghari.
The newly inducted ministers have not been allotted portfolios. The allotment of portfolios would be finalised in a day or two.
In the first phase, Syed Sardar Ahmed of MQM was inducted into the cabinet as finance minister and Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed of PML as minister for law and parliamentary affairs.
The new ministers said that the parties would retain the same portfolios, which they had in the last cabinet, but these may go to new ministers of the same party.
Talking to newsmen after the oath-taking ceremony, Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that the cabinet would be further expanded at an appropriate time.
Representation would be given to women and room for those motivated to work for the betterment of the people of Sindh would also be created.
He said that advisers and special assistants would also be taken.
The chief minister said he was seized with the problem of the people and all measures would be taken to provide them relief.
He said that that the people should come forward and help the government in resolving problems that had invaded all sections of the society.
The ceremony was largely attended by the federal ministers, provincial legislators, diplomats, high-ranking civil and military officials, city nazim naib nazim and elite of the city.
