An important law and order meeting on Saturday evening told that under Section 144, imposed by the administration, the gathering of five and more persons has been banned and no party will be allowed any illegal meeting, procession, rally or march of any kind.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, discussed in detail the peace march to be taken out in the city on Sunday and other issues.
The Chief Minister told the meeting that this decision has been taken to provide protection to the people of Karachi as well as in the interest of those who have given the call of the march.
He said that directives have been issued to the police, Rangers and other law-enforcement agencies to thwart every attempt for Sunday's rally or march and steps be taken for protecting life and property of people.
He urged the people of Karachi to avoid participating in any such rally in view of the obtaining conditions.
It was pointed out in the meeting that in view of the incidents of terrorism, bomb blasts and other criminal activities during the last one-and-a-half month, no permission will be allowed for disturbance in the city during Sunday's peace rally.
If any person, party or group, including Pakistan Muslim League (PML) tried to violate the law, strict action will be taken against it.
