imageLAHORE: Members Assembly belonging to various districts met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Thursday.

Development schemes and welfare programmes came under discussion during the meeting.

Talking to Assembly Members, Shehbaz Sharif said service to the masses and improving their lifestyle was pivot of politics of the Muslim League-N. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, unprecedented steps had been taken for progress of the country and strengthening of national economy.

The chief minister said policy of transparency, quality and speed had been promoted in development projects. He said resources saved under the policy of strict monetary discipline and austerity were being spent on the welfare of the masses. Equal attention was being paid to rural and urban areas under a balanced policy of development, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said a mega programme of clean drinking water had been started from south Punjab and under this project, potable water would be available to crores of people living in villages. He said that construction and rehabilitation of rural roads was continuing speedily under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme. Rural economy would strengthen with the construction of rural roads, he added.

The chief minister said elected representatives should play their role for timely and quality completion of development schemes.

Assembly Members who called on the chief minister include Ch Ashfaq Ahmed, Karam Dad Wahla, Ijaz Shafi, Pir Ghulam Farid, Malik Muhammad Ali Khokhar and Mansha Ullah Butt.
