Wapda generated through its thermal power stations during just gone fiscal year, which is a record in the past five years. This was possible owing to proper management and maintenance of plants, said a Wapda spokesman here on Sunday.
Wapda thermal power also touched the highest figures of power and energy on daily, monthly and yearly basis during last five years, he added.
Giving details he said that plant availability factor remained 79.74 percent during the fiscal year 2003-04, against the previous record of 75.46 percent in 2001-02.
Likewise, utilisation figure was recorded at 59.39 percent, against 55.71 percent during 2001-02.
Maximum daily power sharing of 3,400 mw was against 3,172 mw in 1999-2000, maximum daily energy generation with 75 mkwh as compared to 71 mkwh in 1999-2000, maximum energy production of 2,193 mkwh as against 1,981 mkwh in 1999-2000. In addition to this, record energy generation of 20,927m kWh was observed this year as against 19,498 mkwh during the year 2000-03, he added out.
Besides, Wapda also revived its old thermal power stations at Shahdara and Quetta which were closed down in 1999 and 2000 being uneconomical in operation due to non-availability of gas. These stations produced 14.85 mkwh and 25.72 mkwh which was additional to the generation figure stated above.
Moreover, the spokesman said, Wapda thermal power is about 26.01 percent of rated capability of Wapda system whereas it has contributed 30.32 percent of total energy delivered to the national grid in the year.
