Argentine export commitments of 2003/04 wheat totalled 5.475 million tonnes by July 2, up from 5.315 million tonnes the week before, the Agriculture Department said on Monday.
By the same date last year, Argentina had sold 5.03 million tonnes of the grain.
The government reported sales last week of 140,000 tonnes of wheat to Brazil and 20,000 tonnes apiece to Algeria and Uruguay.
At the same time, the department cut its estimate of sales to Morocco by 20,000 tonnes.
The government's figures refer to wheat seeded starting in May 2003 and harvested through to January 2004. The US Department of Agriculture foresees Argentina's 2003/04 wheat exports reaching 8 million tonnes.
The estimated sales are based on information collected from industry sources.
