Partly Facetious: something about the name Aziz
"So does Shaukat Aziz have a US green card or nationality?"
"What? You think you are a senator now?"
"No, but I still want to know if he is a US national."
"Why?"
"Because the day you become a US national they make you stand and take an oath to be true to the US."
"What if he has a green card?"
"Well, he has to have at least that - to have been able to work for the American bank he was working for, before Musharraf brought him back. And for a green card you do not have to bear allegiance to the US. So I guess it is OK."
"How come the PML (Nawalas) are not complaining about the nationality issue."
"They had a Finance Minister who was taking a pension from FAO."
"But that is an international agency. There is a difference between working for a US bank and working for a UN agency of which Pakistan is a member country."
"Since when did you become a Nawala?"
"I always support the underdog - and the Nawalas are even more of underdogs with the Musharraf regime than the Jiyalas."
"You know I was thinking there is something about the name Aziz. I mean that seems to be the common name for our Finance Ministers and they all seem to have made money from foreign companies or organisations."
"Yes, nothing wrong with that I think, but the nationality has to be right I would argue."
"Sonia Gandhi..."
"Well there you go. You know I wonder if Shaukat Aziz is good for us because suddenly they have started comparing Musharraf's actions to Sonia's. There are so many, many differences between the two."
"What for example?"
"One wears a uniform and the other doesn't, one is non-referendumed and the other isn't, one is the leader of a party the other isn't, one abides by the Constitution the other changes it to suit himself, one..."
"Hey, that's enough. I asked for one you give me so many..."
