Jaranwala Police, on the orders of Lahore High Court, have registered a case against 10 persons, including a Police Inspector, an ASI, three constables and two women, on the charge of allegedly receiving Rs 135,000 as ransom for the release of a goldsmith.
According to details, on January 23, 2003, Police Inspector Mazhar Hussain Sial, ASI Raza-ud-Din, constables Mohammed Hussain, Noor Hussain and Mashooq Ali along with one Yousuf, looted the house of goldsmith Sarfraz Hussain and abducted him to get Rs 200, 000 as ransom money.
It is worth mentioning that Inspector Mazhar Hussain Sial is now in service of Karachi Traffic Police.
