A contract was signed between the Telenor and the Siemens in Islamabad for the deployment of the cellular network of the Telenor in Pakistan. Top Executives of both companies signed the agreement for the supply, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of cellular infrastructure for deployment all over Pakistan.
The Telenor plans to invest $1 billion over the next five years in Pakistan.
The Telenor is a Norwegian operator, which had successfully won a license to operate cellular network in Pakistan for a payment of $291 million earlier this year, and has extensive experience in cellular operations world wide.
The Siemens is a German manufacturer of telecom equipment, and it is the largest telecom solution provider in Pakistan.
A delegation of the Telenor accompanied by top officials of the Siemens also visited Karachi, and met Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and other government officials, who assured the delegation of their full co-operation in helping the company with its plans of foreign investment in the province.
The arrival of the Telenor in Sindh is expected to generate much needed jobs, and uplift the economic activity in the province.-PR
