Putting off uniform by President General Pervez Musharraf is a constitutional requirement and hopefully he will put off his uniform before December 31.
This was stated by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Amir and MMA leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed while talking to newsmen here on Thursday.
About the US Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage's visit to Pakistan and Ashraf Jehangir Qazi's nomination as UN envoy to Iraq, Qazi said both are dangerous signals for us. We apprehend that Richard Armitage will dictate US policies to Pakistani government, as he always used to come with a dictation.
The US wants resolution of Indian occupied Kashmir issue according to will of India, under which LoC would be made a permanent border, he added. Ashraf Jehangir Qazi's nomination as UN envoy to Iraq would create hatred amongst the Iraqi people for 'Pakistani Muslims'. Besides, his nomination is also aimed at providing relief to US while the Philippine has already announced withdrawal of its forces from Iraq.
The western media is not satisfied with General Musharraf's co-operation in war against terrorism, he claimed.
Expressing his concern over situation in Wana he said that he has received information that army was going to bulldoze houses. The Political Agent has issued notices to the tribal men for evacuation of houses failing which their houses would be demolished.
It was agreed during a meeting of the opposition's delegation with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain that foreigners in Wana will not be handed over to any country, but this commitment is not being fulfilled, he maintained.
To a question, he supported an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss present situation confronting to the country.
Responding to another question regarding fielding joint candidate of the opposition against Shaukat Aziz, Qazi said that alliance wants adjustment. We would prefer Attock seat for our religious leader Qari Saeed-ur-Rehman, while the PPP can retain Tharparker seat. However, PPP should have introduced serious and competent candidate against Shaukat Aziz, the Prime Minister in waiting, he maintained.
Moreover, Qazi announced that Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan would hold four-day annual congregation of the party at Minar-e-Pakistan from October 1, 2004. Around 500,000 people including women will participate in the moot, which is aimed at preparing the nation about tackling various challenges, apart from creating awareness amongst the womenfolk about their rights.
Various committees have been constituted to make foolproof arrangements for this moot, he added.
