Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that lawyers have always played a vital role for the supremacy of law and strengthening democracy.
In a meeting with a delegation of Peshawar High Court Bar Association here on Monday, the prime minister said he wishes that lawyers should come forward to fight internal and external threats and play their role in solving the problems being faced by the country.
Lawyers are the opinion makers and intellectual segment of our society , he said, adding that they should guide the nation in the right direction keeping aside their personal interests.
"Our government believes in discussion process and wants to solve the issues after developing consensus," the prime minister said.
We give special consideration to the opinion of lawyers and their advice are valuable, the prime minister said and added that our family has old relations with lawyers as they stood by us when we were in the opposition.
President, Peshawar Bar Association Zia-ur-Rehman invited the Prime Minister to address the Peshawar Bar, saying that lawyers keep him in high esteem and favour his role for the supremacy of law.
President Pakistan Muslim League Lawyers Wing, former Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, Secretary General Muhammad Aslam Zar, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Senator Nisar Memon and Senator Dilawar Abbas were also present on the occasion.
