City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Friday approved the 'Electric Tramway Scheme' for Karachi, which would run on I I Chundrigar Road from Sir Ziauddin Road to Mereweather Tower.
Since this tram will be electric power operated, therefore tram tracks would be laid on both sides of the road.
Naimatullah has instructed CDGK Works and Services Department to contact multinational companies and others interested in the private sector to join hands and participate in the project.
He said that to solve the traffic problems of the city, participation of foreign investors would be indispensable.
CDGK Works Department has asked interested parties to send their proposals by August 31, 2004.
