Wapda is not violating Indus River System Authority's (Irsa's) orders while distributing water to provinces.
Talking to APP, Irsa Secretary Sohail Ali Khan said that there "is complete consensus" between Wapda and Irsa on distribution of water.
The Secretary said that Irsa's directives about water release "are being thoroughly followed" within the present situation of water crisis.
Sohail said that Irsa has not issued any instructions to operate major reservoirs, including Tarbela and Mangla, on run of the river basis.
He also contradicted the news that water level at Tarbela and Mangla dams has decreased due to Wapda's violation of Irsa's order and said that water level had decreased due to low rainfall in current monsoon season.
The Irsa Secretary said: "Water level at major reservoirs has declined due to low monsoon rains in dams' catchment areas and increase in water demand."
He dispelled the impression that Punjab government had protested over Tarbela and Mangla water storage level and to bring these on run of the river.
He added that Punjab government had not made any demand to Irsa to release water in accordance with the inflows.
The Secretary said that slow melting of glaciers was also causing decline in water level at the reservoirs, which did not happen in the past.
He said that despite water shortage the government has made comprehensive plan to meet irrigation water requirement.
