Pakistan will continue unqualified support to China on Tibet, Taiwan and will further enhance mutual co-operation to counter terrorism and extremism. These views were expressed by Chairman Senate Mohammadmian Soomro in a meeting with Ismail Tilwaldi, the governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, says a message received here on Tuesday from Urumqi.
Soomro referred to the historical and cultural relation with Xinjiang and appreciated the progress made by Xinjiang in various fields.
He suggested establishment of joint ventures so as to promote the market and was of the view that a lot of expertise, on both sides, was available, which could be utilised for the mutual benefit, especially in the field of agriculture and water consumption.
Emphasising the need of more interactions between the members of the business community of the two countries, the Senate Chairman expressed the hope that steps would be taken to explore the possibilities of increasing the trade volume.
He assured the governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region that Pakistan would encourage people to visit Xinjiang with a view to promoting tourism. "The more we interact, the closer we get," he added.
Ismail Tilwaldi, welcoming the Pakistan Senate delegation, appreciated Pakistan's support to China on various issues, particularly its role in cracking down terrorism.
The governor briefed the delegation about the socio-economic development of Xinjiang as a result of the reforms.
He invited the Pakistani entrepreneurs to invest in Xinjiang.
