'Country witnessing rise in poverty'

The country was witnessing unprecedented increase in poverty, price hike and unemployment, making the life of common man miserable.
Pervaiz Malik, PML-N central leader and MNA, expressed these views in a statement here on Thursday. According to him, the plight of common man was so miserable that the people were resorting to collective suicides or migrating from the country in search of jobs.
The people were even killing their children, particularly the girls considering them as burden, and this state of affair had never been in the country.
He stated that the National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) programme aimed at poverty alleviation would not produce any tangible results unless the micro and macro industrial and agricultural units were not developed to create job opportunities.
