imagePESHAWAR: Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government could not rehabilitate the people affected from devastating floods in Chitral last year due to reduction in its receipts from Rs.140 billion to Rs.113 billion.

He said the KP Government has decided to contact donor agencies and in this connection, a donor conference will be convened in Islamabad soon. He expressed these views while getting briefing from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chitral regarding the flood affected infrastructures after arrival in the District Chitral on two-day visit.

The PTI Chief said that the rehabilitation of the flood affected infrastructure in Chitral is required a hefty amount of Rs.16 billion, which is not possible within the meager resources of the provincial government. He said that the provincial government is already busy in carrying out the rehabilitation activities.

Regarding funding of the federal governments for the construction of three roads in district Chitral, the PTI Chief expressed the confidence that the Center would honor its commitment to this effect.

Earlier, District Nazim Chitral, Mughfirat Shah, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chitral, Osmaa Ahmad Warriach and local MPA Saleem Khan briefed him in details regarding flood damaged infrastructure in Chitral and told that this year, flood season has been started with the beginning of summer.

They told that floods have rendered several families in Arsun, Ashriat, Briep and others of the district homeless while roads and bridges were also damaged.
