WASHINGTON: Former President General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf said his country was not involved in the murder of Afghan government’s peace envoy Burhanuddin Rabbani and attack on US embassy in Kabul.
Addressing a press conference here, he asserted it was Pakistan that suffered the most as a consequence of the murder of Afghan peace envoy.
Brushing aside the US charges involving Pakistani military and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) including the alleged collusion with Haqqani Network, the former president remarked, “US believes some of our people are with Haqqani Network,” and added “Or, if Haqqani is here, he should stop crossing back and forth (across the border).”
Commenting on the latest bid to make peace with the Taliban fighters, he observed, “Negotiations with outlawed Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) will be tantamount to be weak on the part of the government.”
Reiterating his resolve to come back to Pakistan, Musharraf said he would land in the country on pre-announced March 23, adding he would face Benazir murder case.
