Pakistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Admiral Abdul Aziz Mirza (Retd) has called upon Pakistanis to lend a hand to Lions Club International for completion of its projects aimed at human welfare, health and education.
He was speaking at the installation ceremony of Lions Club International, says a press release issued here on Monday.
Over 500 members of the club attended the function and Governor of Lions Club Major Javed Zameer (Retd) announced his cabinet and took oath from them.
The chief guest, Abdul Aziz Mirza said that Lions Club International was an international volunteer organisation working throughout the globe for health, education and welfare of human being specially eradication of blindness.
However, he regretted, that in Pakistan there were only 6,000 members of this organisation out of 150 million populations.
He said that this organisation was working on the same lines suggested by our religion. He stressed the need for expanding the services of this club throughout the country.
Newly elected District Governor, Javed Zameer Ahmed said that he would strive for increasing the membership of the club this year and has set enrolling 100 new members at his target.
He stated that this club would also be expanded to Tehsil and Town levels to co-operate in government efforts of providing facilities of education and health to village and backward areas.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Khawaja Muhammad Akram, Chairman of the function.
