A leading automobile manufacturer Indus Motors Company on Saturday increased prices of cars by Rs 20,000 to Rs 64,000.
According to the chairman All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association H N Shehzad, the rise in prices will come into force from August 21.
INC's marketing executives were not available in the offices on account of weekly holiday.
He said that the price of Toyota saloon 2.0 CD diesel has been increased from Rs 1.196 million to Rs 1.209 million, showing a rise of Rs 20,000 per car.
Similarly, Toyota Corolla XLI was now priced at Rs 0.659 million, showing a rise of Rs 10,000 per unit.
The price of Daihatsu Cuore CL was up from Rs 349,000 to Rs 355,000, showing an increase of Rs 64,000 while price of Cuore CX was escalated by Rs 10,000 to Rs 409,000.
Shehzad alleged that all these cars were selling in the market at premium prices and Toyota Corolla diesel model was attracting an on-money of Rs 220,000 on each unit while Cuore CX which has CNG kit was charging a black money of Rs 65,000.
He said that nobody was checking prices of automobile assemblers in the country.
He said that these prices were increased in the presence of Monopoly Control Authority.
