Pakistani exporters were all set to send three containers of mangoes of late Chaunsa variety next month to China primarily to assess logistic problems involved in sending this fruit to the neighbouring country.
According to Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board (PHDEB) officials here Saturday, of the three containers two would be sent by Korakaram Highway (KKH) and one by sea.
"Northern Areas Transport Company (NATC) and National Logistics Cell (NLC) will be involved in sending mangoes from Karachi to Rawalpindi before airlifting the fruit to Chinese town of Urumqui", Chief Executive Officer(CEO)of PHDEB Shamoon Sadiq told APP.

He said, unit price of mango to the tune of 15 Yuan (Rs 25) per kg could be quite agreeable for Pakistani mango exporters while sending the commodity by sea or road.
He said that Pakistan's Sindhri and Dusehri varieties of mango had the ability to compete with the Indian Alfonso in the Chinese market.
The per kg unit price fetched by Philippines and Australian mangoes in the Chinese market presently stood at Yuan 15 and Yuan 22 respectively.
Sadiq said that a team of Chinese quarantine experts would soon visit to approve the import of kinnows from Pakistan.
Pakistan's four member delegation of mango exporters had recently visited China to gain first hand knowledge about the procedural requirements for export of the fruit.
