Provincial Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro has said that the government is actively considering bringing its schools at par with private sectors' schools to ensure uniformity in education system, which is imperative for the development of healthy society in the country.
She said to achieve this objective English would be made compulsory subject right from the primary schools, the syllabus would be redesigned to reduce unnecessary burden of the pupil and improving the budgetary allocation. She said Sindh have only 60 percent enrolment as compared to NWFP and Punjab having 70 and 80 percent enrolment respectively. She said it was time that all those connected with education system should work above selves for the development of education system.
She said the schools management committees would be empowered to run the affairs of government schools while the officers of the education department would adopt effective monitoring system to ensure the presence of teaching staff.
He said appointments of teaching staff would be made strictly on merit basis that too on three years contract basis extendable only on the performance of the incumbents while the working of the existing staff would be monitored and those failed to fulfil their obligations towards their students would be removed.
She hoped that in the interest of providing our younger generations a congenial atmosphere to equip themselves with modern knowledge, people enjoying socio-political status would desist from interfering in education system.
