Additional District and Sessions Judge has directed Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail and other officials to appear before the court on August 30 in a petition filed against them by a jail inmate Muhammad Arshad.
The petitioner contended that his rivals Irfan and Afzal in connivance with the respondents injured him and his colleague with a knife in the jail but neither they were given medical treatment nor any action was taken against the accused. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondent jail officials to act in accordance with the law and arrange their medical check up. He also prayed to the court to direct the respondent to ensure their protection in the jail and also got registered criminal case against the responsible persons.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, issued notices to the jail authorities and directed them to appear before the court on next date of hearing.
