Seven people, including three women and two children died of using poisonous water of Manchhar lake in one village Maula Bux Mallah near Manchhar.
This was told by villagers to the team led by DCO Dadu Alamddin Bilo who visited Manchhar lake on Saturday evening and collected the samples of its water.
Those died of use of toxic water were identified as Ms Badran w/o Sawan Mallah, Ms Sakina d/o Ghulam Hyder, Dilber s/o Yakoob Mallah, Ishaq s/o Khamiso Mallah Ms Hasina d/o Younis, Sarda Ali s/o Qadan Mallah and an innocent son of Hussain Mallah.
The villagers told the team that more than 20 persons of villages Umar Jamali, Garkano, Safi Jo Thalho, Boobak and Manchhar had fallen sick of diarrhea, vomiting and other water borne diseases.
DCO Dadu ordered setting up of emergency medical camp on the bank of Manchhar lake within 24 hours and on his orders two medical teams reached Manchhar on Sunday which gave medicines to affected people.
After the visit and confirmation of deaths in one village due to use of Manchhar water, DCO Dadu who headed the team formed by Sindh government about Manchhar water, announced that the lake water will not be released in the river Indus as it was hazardous for human health.
He announced to install tube well for under ground water for drinking in villages near Manchhar for use of villages.
