Afghan diplomats will be trained by Indian officials under an agreement signed here Wednesday by Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and his Indian counterpart Natwar Singh, an official said.
Foreign ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in a statement here that India's Foreign Service Institute and Afghanistan's Institute of Diplomacy "will co-operate in training and building expertise of the diplomatic cadre of Afghanistan."
Before the signing, Abdullah held official-level talks with Singh and later met with India's National Security Advisor J.N. Dixit.
He was to call on Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday before returning home.
Indian officials had said that during Abdullah's visit India and Afghanistan would review the gamut of their bilateral relations, including a 400-million dollar Indian reconstruction aid package being given to Afghanistan.
Abdullah arrived here late Tuesday but his main programme was packed into Wednesday.
