Supreme Court to hear review petition of Nawaz on September 14

The Supreme Court of Pakistan will proceed with a review petition on September 14, 2004, filed by former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family members against the Income Tax Department.
The petitioner contended that the respondent department with malafides intention sent excessive income tax returns only to victimise them politically. The Lahore High Court had accepted the petition in favour of the petitioner but the department challenged this decision before the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Supreme Court passed orders in favour of the department as a result of which the petitioner filed a review petition against the said decision.
