Fausto M Godoy, Ambassador of Brazil in Pakistan, has proposed that the businessmen of both countries should intensify their interaction leading to identification of new areas of co-operation.
Speaking at a meeting of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he said that although Pakistan and Brazil are geographically at a long distance with each other a big potential exists for the promotion of trade between the two countries which, if exploited, would be beneficial for both nations.
He said that Pakistan and Brazil have the 5th and 6th largest population in the world. He that Brazil aircraft industry is the third largest.
Godoy was very optimistic about promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations with Pakistan.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Riaz Ahmed Tata, President of FPCCI, assured guest that FPCCI would soon form a trade delegation for Brazil and arrange Pakistan's participation in trade fairs there.
Arshad Alam, Vice President of FPCCI, suggested that Pakistan and Brazil should join hands in leather industry. He said that Brazil has surplus leather raw material which Pakistan can import to meet its requirements. He proposed that Pakistan's leather exporters and manufacturers should visit Brazil.
Haroon Rashid, Vice President FPCCI, pointed out that absence of direct shipping service and flights was the main hindrance in promotion of bilateral trade between the two countries.
