The Union of Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has expressed their concern over poor availability of utilities and depleted infrastructure in the city.
Lack of water, gas, interrupted electricity and broken roads in Trans Lyari, Hawksbay, and Baldia are badly affecting the SMEs of these areas, the traders told additional chief secretary, Sindh, Planning and Development, Ghulam Sarwar Khero, in a meeting held on Wednesday.
Khero assured members of the delegation his full support in overcoming their problems and asked them to contact EDO (Enterprise) for the required facilitation as he was responsible for SMEs promotion and development.
Later, the delegation also called on provincial secretary, Industries, Labour and Transport, Nasar Hayat with a request to allocate suitable piece of land for SMEs with complete infrastructure at concessional rates.
The president of the union, Zulfikar Thaver, asked the secretary and managing director, Sindh Small Industries Corporation, Mahmood Ahmed, to take measures for developing industrial estates on priority basis and allot ready sheds to SMEs on easy and concessional payment.
The secretary asked the union to submit a comprehensive plan in this regard. He apprised the union's representatives that both the governor and chief minister were very keen to promote the idea of industrial estate in the province.
