Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan on Wednesday said the Task Forces for main crops would be established within a few days.
The members of these Task Forces would be taken from the agricultural universities and the agricultural research departments, he added.
Sikandar Hayat Bosan stated this while speaking at a briefing given to him here on Wednesday.
The minister said that farmers' role should be strengthened for development of the agricultural sector, and their efforts should be encouraged for enhancing production to feed the growing population and alleviate poverty.
Bosan said the livestock sector contributes more than 37 percent to the agricultural GDP and accounts for 12.34 percent of the total foreign exchange earnings of the country.
He said Pakistan has great potential in the livestock sector, therefore, experts need to develop a comprehensive strategy to boost this important sector of economy.
The minister appreciated the role of NARC in development of IPM programme in Sindh, saying this was the first programme that is successfully adopted by the farmers extensively. He said same programmes are also required to be launched throughout the country.
The Minister of State for Food and Agriculture, Mohammad Ali Malkani, speaking on the occasion, said that experts should focus their attention towards the management of water.
